The Opportunity
Due to increasing demand for our services, we are looking for a talented Mechatronics Engineer to join our team. You will work alongside electronics designers, mechanical engineers, and software developers, playing a key role in developing new hardware functionalities for our advanced electronic instrumentation. You will also contribute to bespoke solutions for specialised projects.
This role requires full project ownership, from concept through to completion, covering design, prototyping, testing, manufacture, installation, documentation, and customer collaboration.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of digital electronics and microcontrollers, including UARTS (especially USB and SPI).
- Experience with analogue/mixed signal electronics design, signal conditioning, and processing.
- Knowledge of RF/microwave electronics design.
- Hands-on prototyping skills, including fault-finding and soldering.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Understanding of signal processing (including theory) and its implementation in hardware.
- Some experience in embedded software development (including C and Java).
- Experience or familiarity with electronics CAD software (such as Proteus) for schematic capture, PCB layout and mechanical CAD software’s (such as Autodesk).
- Familiarity with large-scale mechanical systems, such as gearboxes and drivetrains.
- Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technologies, such as ultrasonic piezo transducers and Electro-Magnet Acoustic Transducers (EMATs).
The ideal candidate will be talented, passionate and hard-working, with great intuition for real-world engineering problem solving. They will have excellent team-working abilities, good personal presentation, and communication skills for liaising with clients.
Our customers are based around the globe, and ideally, you would be able to travel for occasional on-site installation and troubleshooting work.
As this is a full-time office-based role, you would need to be able to commute to our office in Cramlington, Northumberland, or be willing to relocate.
